Description:

Trees or shrubs. Stipules often conspicuous. Leaves long-petiolate, varying from simple and palmate to digitately compound, often grouped in an umbrella-shaped arrangement at the ends of branches. Leaflets very variable, often long-acuminate. Inflorescences spicate (in ours). Flowers with (4-)5 greenish petals. Stamens (4-)5. Ovary 2-locular. Styles 2.

Cussonia is a genus of plants of family Araliaceae, represented by 20 species. It originated in Africa and has its center of distribution in South Africa and Madagascar.
